Is it me – or has genuinely helpful customer service gone the way of Henry Ford’s Model T?

Did you hear about the 911 operator who was just hanging up on people in distress because she was tired of listening to people? No, I’m not making this up. Yes, she is the poster girl for poor customer service, but where was her boss?

Okay. Call me old – or old-fashioned. But, when I’m buying a product or paying for a service I keep hoping that things will work – as advertised, as described. I pay with genuine money that I earned with a lot of sweat. When I decide spending is needed, it can be a genuinely tough moment. No, I don’t expect freebies. I don’t expect anything out of the ordinary. Yet people who are getting paid, mind you, act like they are being “put out” by having to answer a question or “do their job” Yeah – I do think this is not always the way it was or the way it should be – either now or in the future.
