OVER THE HILL??
I am kinda annoyed (and that’s putting it mildly). There’s a comment on the AFL Facebook page that says being After 50 is “over the hill.” Really? It’s ONLY so in the mind of that poor, misguided, disgruntled creature. How sad is that!! My goal is NOT to present some unrealistic, unattainable image of what life is like when you reach 50 and beyond. But, in reality, there are way too many voices saying, “Hang it up, grandpa!,” “Time for the old folks home, Grandma?” “Ohhhh, aren’t you cute. Look at you trying to do

AFL’s Founder, Jo-Anne
(whatever) like young folks do.” And yes, I know, all too well, I am not simply a youngster with wrinkles. But – come on, now. How dare you make assumptions about my possibilities. My goal? My goal is to be a support for those who say “How dare you. How dare you insult me with your discriminatory, derogatory statements . As long as I’m breathing and kickin’ – I will be contributing – and you better step aside, ’cause here we come. We’re a human tsunami of wisdom and experience tested by the truths of time. We’re proud, we’re productive, and we’re living this life to our fullest. All of it. Each and every moment we’ve been given.”
