Independent Living Offers the privacy of your own home; safety, security, maintenance-free living; various apartment floor plans; scheduled activities; a variety of meal plans. Usually an entrance fee. For those who don't need medical assistance or assistance with daily living activities. Assisted Living Provides help with the activities of daily living (dressing, bathing) and limited health care assistance. It values independence while providing supportive service. For those who don't need intense medical care but can no longer live on their own. Continuing Care Your contract provides you with housing and services for life - within one location. Services may include social opportunities, meals, housekeeping, transportation, emergency assistance, nursing care and other health services. Usually an entrance fee. Nursing Care Provides medical assistance and 24/7 care to those unable to live on their own, or who need to recover from an illness or medical procedure. Some stays may be shorter (or longer) than others. Nursing care facilities provide meals and opportunties for socialization, and offer laundry and housekeeping services. Various therapies may be provided. Alzheimer's/Memory Care This is the choice when remaining at home is no longer viable. Options depend on the stage of the disease. Secured residential units provide 24-hour monitoring along with meals, laundry and housekeeping. If the unit is within a skilled nursing facility, then nursing care is provided on a 24-hour basis. If it is within a residential care facility, then nursing care is provided for 40-hours per week, with a nurse on-call 24-hours/day. Rehabilitation Care This care can offer a variety of recreational, speech, physical and occupational therapies. This care may be needed by those recovering from a medical event or an accident, or by those with a physical disability or other medical problem. Both in-patient and out-patient care is available. Rehabilitation care can be offered within medical facilities, within nursing care facilities, or within stand-alone facilities. Adult Day Care Adult Day Care - offers a wide variety of social, health, and related support services to seniors and/or those with disabilities. Some programs have a special focus, as with those designed for persons with Alzheimer's disease. The programs take place in a safe setting during day-time hours. Luxury Community Luxury Community - for active adults consists of a community of homes ranging in price from $500,000 to several million. They are frequently also gated communities and may offer many desirable amenities.
