These 5 Habits Can Help Increase Your Lifespan

A new study  published in the journal Circulation suggests that you can Increase your lifespan just that by following healthy habits. Each of those factors is significantly associated with a reduced risk of dying from the top two killers in the United States, cardiovascular disease and cancer, according to the study.

For this study, researchers measured the link between those five lifestyle factors and premature death using data from the national Nurses’ Health Study and the Health Professionals Follow-Up Study. The data came from 1980 to 2014 and included more than 122,000 people combined.

These five habits just might help you live a decade or more longer:

  1. Never smoke
  2. Maintain a healthy weight and don’t carry excess fat around.
  3. Exercise on a regular basis each week.
  4. Don’t abuse alcohol and use moderation when drinking alcohol.
  5. Eat a healthy diet with foods that are good for your body.

Maintaining these five lifestyle features at age fifty is affiliated with adding over a decade of life expectancy to both men and women as compared to not practicing any of them. Recent research shows that each of these lifestyle factors is associated with reducing the risk of dying from cardiovascular disease and cancer. These are leading causes of early death. These diseases can be prevented, and incidences of them decreased from making healthier choices.

These are minimal changes to our lives which have a significant impact on our longevity.

The US ranks 43rd when it comes to life expectancy at birth. The average life expectancy is eighty years old. The top three countries with highest life expectancy at birth are Monaco, Japan and Singapore. The countries with the lowest life expectancy at birth are Chad, Guinea-Bissau, and Afghanistan.
