IN HER OWN WORDS (A SHARED STORY): RIGHT ON WITH STRENGTH TRAINING!
LIN HULTGREN
Hi, my name is Lin and I am an American Council on Exercise Fitness Professional certified since 1995. I am committed to enriching quality of life through providing inspiration, education, motivation and safe and effective exercise programs for healthy adults. A believer that healthy food choices & simple physical activity, strength training especially, are the key to quality of life and longevity, I have developed a comprehensive sculpting & strengthening program utilizing a stability ball & hand held weights which is non-impact (joint friendly), modification & beginner friendly & appropriately named 'The Get on the Ball with Weights with Lin' fitness program. Strength training is the key to fat loss (through boosting metabolism as muscle burns 10-12 times the amount of fat, even when the body is at rest!) and preventing osteoporosis. Most recent research from Harvard Medical School reveals that strength training also promotes heart health & prevents or controls Type 2 Diabetes.
The majority of my clients create a strong and healthy body by performing resistance exercises utilizing a stability ball & weights for only two hours per week on non-consecutive days. The stability ball enables you to work your stabilizing muscles while challenging a major muscle group simultaneously. In addition to making the most of your exercise time, this increases muscle strength and endurance, enhances spinal stability, improves balance, posture and co-ordination.
As exercise is cumulative, there is really no reason for not making physical activity a part of your lifestyle. In the amount of time it takes to verbalize three reasons why you cannot fit exercise into your life, you can perform a set of ten repetitions of an exercise and be stronger and healthier for it! Once you have accomplished the proper form for strength training, a portable program like the Get On The Ball with Weights will enable you to utilize ten minutes of your lunch hour to conveniently perform a few sets of strength exercises towards a healthier you or even accomplish some exercise while you are watching television or a movie. Make the most of your time. Get on the Ball today!
When it comes to exercise there is no such thing as too little or too late...anything is better than nothing and today is the first day of the rest of your life.
Taking into consideration that human bodies are not made to last forever, as one ages it becomes necessary to adjust to this reality and work around some physical limitations when creating a fitness program. But at the same time I believe that the human spirit becomes stronger, and there is no reason that one cannot create a strong & healthy body at any age! When one is resolved & believes, anything is possible.
