The last two lines in my poem Turning Seventy I wrote “I’ve lived my dream/I’ve done it all." Never have I been so wrong. Since then I have published Time of Triumph, a collection of my short stories and poems. Two of my poems were published by Poetry Rivals 2009 and 2010 in the UK. Then to top it all, I have submitted my first novel Winds of Wildfire for publication to be released first part of December 2010. Both will be available on amazon.com Winds of Wildfire spins a story about three cultures set in Taos, NM, the last vestige of the old west where they collide and coalesce in a back-drop of tragic love, hate, bigotry, violence, hidden treasure, and the love of nature. Poet and lady from Boston dance to the tune of unrequited love. A Tiwa lad rejects civilization to live in the natural. Intrigue and high drama unfold in a rare show of humanity.
In my spare time, I traveled to Spain this past July where I did poetry recitals of my Spanish poetry. Upon my return, I recited poetry at Metta Theatre in Taos.
In-between I mentor a fifteen-year-old young lady and the poetry club at Mesa Vista charter high school in Taos, NM. On January 14, 2011, I will recite for SOMOS from my new novel in Taos, the literary voice for writers and poets.
And as soon as I catch my breath, I will start my second novel with a working title, Ten Cents a Shine on Route 66. I will draw on my life experience on Route 66 where I shined shoes in front of a café on the mother road as a kid and then went on to own the café. Check my site www.timeoftriumph.net for a glimpse of my life on Route 66. Now I am seventy-four years old. I wonder what I will write when I turn seventy-five.
A note from Ronald:
I submit my story in hopes it will inspire others in their golden years to live their dream, fearlessly.
