IN HER OWN WORDS (A SHARED STORY) - I WAS ABLE TO GET INSURANCE!
KIM CAMPBELL
My husband and I had just retired and sold our home, relocating to another area in our state. Without new jobs, we were uninsured. 7 months later I find myself with cancer of the uterus and needing a total hysterectomy! The hospital financial person strongly advised I apply for the the FMIP-the new insurance put in place by President Obama, for those who are uninsured and have an existing health condition. I applied but still planned on going broke by using the funds from our home and retirement to cover the cost of my bills to come. I was blessed with the news I was covered, and for a mere $600 a month, an amount I can afford to pay, I have insurance and my surgery was covered. Not only did it cover my surgery, but I ended up having ovarian cancer too, so it will cover my chemo as well. My entire life has been changed by this; I feel I have been spared and I know others can be too. Thank you Mr. President!
