A SHARED STORY: RAISING THREE GRANDCHILDREN

SHARON ALVEY

A Shared Story: Raising Three GrandchildrenAt sixty-seven I never invisioned myself as raising three of my five granchildren.  But, here I am with three boys ages 13, 11 and 6.  I thought I did this much earlier in my life?  The challenges are endless, food for instance; I never have enough of it in the house.  I used to go grocery shopping one maybe twice a week.  Now, I find myself going at least four times and sometimes everyday.  And the funny thing about it is, my grandchildren are not eating it all.  My husband loves the idea of having the extra food around.  He eats things he never ate before....Twinkies?

Homework..yuk! I hated it when I went to School and then when I had to help my three sons.  And now with the grandchildren.  I can't believe how much homework a Kindegardener has.  I used to play with blocks and have story time and a nap. The other two boys also have unbelievable amounts to do.

Washing - I'm sure I am going to need a new Washer and Dryer pretty soon!  Everyday at least 3 loads.

Well, beside all this extra work I have to do.  I love these 3 beyond words.  As well, as my other 2 grandchildren.  God has blessed me with 5 healthy grandchildren.  I can only do my best to help them get through this time of their life and hope that their Mother and Father can grow up!

God Bless Grandmothers!!!
