A SHARED STORY: MANY BLESSINGS

DEBBY SEARLS

A Shared Story: Many BlessingsAs life goes on, I realize that there are things, many things, that I should be grateful for.  The sun, the wind, the rain -- all of these are blessings.

I had wonderful parents (never divorced) and they taught me so much.  Love, forgiveness, sharing, caring and how to help others and not expect anything in return.

I had a sister and 2 brothers so I was not lonely for someone to play with.  We had a German shepherd dog.

For most of my life, I lived near a park where I would go as soon as mom said I could and stayed until I was called home.  In the day, we had a park lady.  She would bring games, volleyballs and basketballs.  One day of the week we would do crafts.  We made some of the goofiest things but as a child we cherished each and everything we made.  On Friday evenings we would sit on blankets, eat popcorn, and watch a movie with our friends.  It was a blast!

I had lots of friends.  We laughed and cried together.  But the most important thing is that we truly enjoyed each others' company. Sometimes if 3 of us girls got together, we would quarrel.  But we always made up.

I would not be the person I am today if it were not for all of the experiences of my childhood.  My dad worked hard to support us and I had my mom at home.  She did not work outside of the home.  She had enough work in the home to keep her busy from sunrise to sunset.  :-)

I never take anything or anyone for granted.  In an instant things can change so I appreciate and am thankful for even the smallest things.  LIFE IS GREAT!
