A SHARED STORY: WHAT LED ME HERE
JULIE C.
Six months ago I had gastric bypass surgery to improve my health, to hopefully get rid of the diabetes and to diminish the terrible knee pain I was suffering with. My job as a CPhT requires me to stand all day anywhere from 6 - 10 hours a day and I was miserable and not loving life like I should have been.
I consider myself a very lucky person, although I've never won the lottery or anything else of much value but I still have both of my parents and I have 2 grown kids and 4 grandchildren that are so precious to me. My parents are 83 (dad) and 92 (mom) and still get around, they live in a cottage in a senior housing development across town from me and I see them every week and talk to them a couple times a week.
Now I'm at a place where life is grand! I've lost 80 pounds, my knee pain is all but gone, I have so much energy it amazes me. Now I can be available to my parents when they need me and not have to worry about my own pain.
I do have an incisional hernia that needs to be surgically removed but when that's taken care of I will be a new and improved person! Right now I feel rich, I live paycheck to paycheck but I'm happy! Here's to 2012!!
