Working At Home

I am 57 year old female, and been working on and off since the age of 18. My first job was long distance telephone operator, I have also worked in the home healthcare field, and various food related customer service jobs. I like meeting new people and helping those in my boomer age group. I would like to start a forum about working from home, and have people post work at home opportunities. Not scams or those that will require alot of money, but honest work from home companies.

By the way as I said, I entered in the memolink you mentioned, an they sent me many surveys, the case is that I do not know who are serious or not, if they are not scammers, or maybe a kind of virus to our computer, I do not know the world are full of hackers lol.

deye56 There are numerous survey cos, but some of them are better than others. It is just a matter of weeding out the ones that are not sending you surveys. Also, it is time consuming, and you do not see profits right away. I fortunately have the time to spend on finding the survey cos that will send me surveys. But, I have also noticed that I do not always qualify for a survey that has been sent. However, they will normally find you a survey that you qualify for. I will only post the survey cos, that have worked for me. I realize not everyone is interested in doing surveys. Thanks for your input!

Amceb53 Use caution when getting involved with survey cos. or even companies asking for mystery shoppers. My fiance signed up and she got nothing but low paying suveys $.15, a few at $3.00. Mystery shopper cos. paying up to $395.00, being bogus assignments.

deye56 Surveys are fun to do in between jobs. Some of them pay cash, and some of them give points. They may seen repetitive at first, but keep answering the questions, because they will soon start sending you surveys to complete for cash or points. Here is one that I like: http://www.memolink.com/index.cfm/beacon/my.invite/referCode/353069110011

Newborn60 Re. Working at home. I have already received a job offer to work at home from one of the members below Amceb53, I need to hear from my husband, because besides being just married, I am also just living in the USA, I do not know the regulations, nor I have my social security,so I am not sure if this will be a problem, but I think we need to have our brain busy, not exactly for money, mainly to make new friendship relationships.

Amceb53 "Own Your Life" This is what I think it means to “Own Your Life”_ When you subtract out the sleeping time, commuting time, working time and things you have to do each and every day of your life most people don’t have more than one to two hours a day to do what they would like to do-and then, would they have the money to do it? We have discovered a way a person can learn how to “Own Their Life” by building a home-based business and we have a system for doing it that is so simple anyone can do it. It doesn’t require selling and the best part is it won’t take much of your time. If you are interested, contact me. Anthony Ceballos-Lifestyle Trainer Website:http://amceb53.iownmylife.net Tel. xlorah God Bless you for taking care of 3 grand kids! Right now my two grand daughters are here with us along with their mom and let me tell you, it doesn't get any easier after 50! I applied with some mystery shops and I do them. It helps out. I have been doing them for awhile now and am starting to get more phone shops to do. It takes over a month to get paid, but if you do enough, it will help out at the end of the month. It isn't a lot but it can pay a bill or two! I can give you the link to sign up if you would like. I am not sure if I can post it here, but you can email me for it if you would like.

deye56 I am sorry you are having problems. No, you should not be getting a feed of work sites. I have often seen the type of webpage you are describing. It just shows a bunch of links. I do not know why that happens, what browser do you use? This is a legitimate home based opportunity. However, here is another url for the same company. www.familiesinfaith.com/workingfromhome. This url is just geared to those that prefer a more Christian type group to work with, but, again , it is the same company. Are you interested in speaking with someone for more details?
Wed Mar 16, 2011, 12:32:59 PM EDT
I went to the site you have listed, it appears just to be a feed list of work sites. It does not seem to show if they have been checked out, if they are real, or even if they are anything other than pyramid schemes. Is there something I’m missing? Is there more? Have you used them with any luck?
Mon Mar 14, 2011, 3:34:42 PM EDT
deye56 Kathie50: If you would like more information about this home-based opportunity, you may go to the website that I have given you, read about it, and put in your information, so that a representative can contact you, and go over the details with you. This is the fastest and most reasonable way to find out any information, if you are serious about working from home.

GradyGroup I was involved in real estate too. After the past two years of this recession I had to take inventory of my assets - 30 years work experience, my liabilities - being close to age 60 with limited cash. I had to find a way to make a decent income without the stress of someone else having the authority to tell me "we have to let you go." I was thinking maybe I can make money with a website. As a part of checking it out for what all could go wrong I came across the website: http://www.sitesell.com/Austin18.html I watched the entire 30 minute video tour and learned exactly what I would need do to make money with a website. Basically they talked abut a lot of work and building it like any other business. I would have worried about the scam factor if they hadn't. But here was a way that I could teach and coach via a website, earn income three or four different ways and not have to worry. On the strength of what I learned about monetizing a website, I was willing to give a network marketing type company a shot. I won't be trying to get my friends and family in my business so much as selling products and offering an opportunity to people who are "goggling" for information and answers. It may not be the answer for everyone but I feel extremely confident about the future for the first time in three years.

Janean I've been laid off since July and I am also looking for something to do at home. My husband had a 5 bypass surgery, in 20008 and because of complications is still partially blind. I really need to be home. I also enjoy meeting new people.

PaulT Another idea is what my mother started a couple of yeas ago. She started a business as a “Concierge”. Basically she runs errands, shops for people, stays in clients homes for deliveries and repair people, watches animals while the owners are out of town, and from time to time drives around clients that can no longer drive. She charges by the hour or job depending. What is nice is she makes her own hours and is working 25- 30 hours a week which leaves her time to do things she loves to do too. She began her business by advertising in retirement communities near her, it did not take long before she also found out that many of her best customers were young professionals or couples who both were working and they just did not have enough time to handle some of these chores

Nona this is a great idea - what type of area does your mom live in - is it a small town or a large community area?
Thu Feb 3, 2011, 4:24:02 PM EST
deye56 Here is another opportunity that I recently came across. You can be compensated for giving auto insurance quotes. I do not have a website for this. It would require asking a few simple questions and getting paid for every auto quote you submit. Contact me at readnow56@gmail.com if you are interested.

deye56 There are several work from home websites and some of them post daily all opportunities that are available. Not all of them require selling. Work from home opportunities are much like being self employed, you are the boss, and you determine when and how many hours to put in to it. You dont have to commute, and you dont have to punch a time clock. There are many good advantages to working from your home, but you may not be able to make a consistent pay compensation right away. It takes time and alot of people do it along with their full time job away from home and build a business slowly. Melaleuca does not require that you sell any products. Here is my link---- www.familiesinfaith.com/workingathome Dont give up in your search for a work at home opportunity. If you feel this is for you, it can be very rewarding.

Thu Jan 6, 2011, 7:58:39 PM EST
Tony In reading through this it looks like almost all of the postings are for jobs at home "selling" products. I'm not interested in selling stuff, I'm looking real work from home. Is it just a pipe dream or are there jobs that out there that allow people to work from home and earn a living?
Mon Jan 3, 2011, 10:33:46 PM EST
Dar845 Hi Tony , i read your message on here, and you said that you were not interested in selling anything, What I do is a great business , I work from home , and the pay is very good ,as so is the products, we dont do much , we let it do the work for you , so it want hurt to take a look at my website , if you dont like what you see , thank you for allowing me to just share with you.my site is DStrahan.Organogold.com/na/biz/ .Thanks.

coachrobin To add to my last post...Beachbody has been around for awhile - perhaps you have heard of P90X? Right now you can enroll free. I mean, health is the niche market today, so its a great way to get yourself in an exercise routine, and help others do the same. some of us have 'fit clubs' where we plan one of the exercise DVD's somewhere once a week...fun to join together and exercise and socialize too. www.befitandwellnow.com to check it out. Just FYI!! Im on coachrobin@befitandwellnow.com if you have questions. As a health and lifestyle coach, i find this a really great addition for my clients!! Blessings!
Wed Dec 29, 2010, 7:31:36 PM EST
deye56 Thanks Coachrobin for your input! Yes, health and wellnes is the hot topic now for alot of folks! Who doesnt want to be healthy and feel good ! And you need good products that work well with all the right ingredients!
Thu Dec 30, 2010, 2:28:11 PM EST
coachrobin Well, since you all asked, Im not sure if this is what you mean by legit work. I am a health and lifestyle coach. I have partnered with Beachbody for all the great exercise DVD's and nutritional products and workout equipment too. We also know some folks who do typing/transcribing from home legitimately. And we have a small home biz doing billing/accts receivable. So there are possibilities to do from home. More and more are going that route for sure. And with all the jobs laying off, its probably not a bad idea to be doing stuff from home!!
Wed Dec 29, 2010, 7:21:02 PM EST
Dar845 Hi Coach robin , it great to meet you , i see that you are in the Health Industry ,I am a business owner , that is also a part of the Healthy lifestyle ,so you might be interest in what i am doing, Share our products with peoples that i meet to let them know about our Healthy Gourmet Coffee and tea, with good health benfit, I met another coach that work with lifestyle and fitness and introduce it to him , so he decide to also add it to what he doing,What I can say since you are in to nutritional products , we have the best, peoples are drinking coffee all the time , so why not let them know that ,there is a healthy way of coffee.if interest , you may check my website out, DStrahan.Organogold.com/na/biz/ , Thank you Robin for allowing me to share with you. be bless.

deye56 Just wanted to Thank all of you for your input on this forum and wish everyone a Happy New Year! Maybe after all the holidays are over and done with and things have settled down, it will be alot easier to resume your work at home searches. Start out with finding a topic that you are interested in because it is alot easier to talk about something that you know something about.
Wed Dec 29, 2010, 5:03:40 PM EST
matherton I find this topic interesting as I would love to find a part-time work at home job. I'm a retired school teacher and have done a little substitute work. I do lots of craft work, dichroic fused pendants, wire wrapping, triloom weaving, sewing, etc. but have not found a way to make any money. I've researched the arts/crafts sites that sell but wonder if they are successful. Any ideas???
Wed Dec 29, 2010, 2:02:10 PM EST
deye56 Hi matherton! I love crafts and beading also. I know how trying it can be! Have you tried Etsy or Ebay to sell your items? Would you like to view an online presentation on my work at home company?
Wed Dec 29, 2010, 3:36:21 PM EST
GroovyGranny I'd love to work from home, but with all the scams out there, how do you know when its safe? We could really use a little extra income & I'm unable to hold down a job, due to health reasons, but cannot get SSI. Anyone with some good info?
Wed Dec 22, 2010, 6:04:04 PM EST
deye56 Hi GroovyGranny! I would love for you to view the online presentation! Just shoot me an email,(i could not find an email address for you) and I will reply with instructions on how to log on to the online presentation about Melaleuca.

xlorah I have been working at home part time while keeping my full time job. It is something I love, which is scented candles! The hardest thing for me is when my order comes in, I don't want to give them to the customer because they smell so darn good...lol.
Tue Dec 21, 2010, 8:12:42 PM EST
xlorah deye56, I have heard of Melaleuca, and even checked into it one time and it is a great opportunity for those searching, but I like my candles and their comp plan the best. I did a lot of research and this fits me best. The great thing is that what will work for one person will not for another, although the concept of an MLM is basically the same. Don't you agree?
Wed Dec 29, 2010, 9:26:25 PM EST
deye56 Hi xlorah! I do Melaleuca, a 25 year old wellness company. Have you ever heard of it?
Wed Dec 29, 2010, 2:29:49 PM EST
xlorah deye56 I am with Scent Sations, home of the Mia Bella Candle. What about you?
Mon Dec 27, 2010, 11:31:10 PM EST
deye56 Hi xlorah! That sounds like me! If you dont mind me asking, which candle company do you sell candles for?
Wed Dec 22, 2010, 5:20:51 PM EST

Marmck1955 I think that is an excellent idea. I'd welcome such an opportunity myself. I've been a stay at home mom for 36 years and now am taking care of a 2 year old grandson and that is still a full time job. I also have a 66 year old husband that I take care of as well. He's somehow become helpless since he's staying home on disability. He's only there because the company says he can't work right now. And the Dr says he'd rather he take another couple of months to let some diabetic ulcers to completely heal. But that doesn't stop him from moving, or maybe it does? I'm beginning to woder. I'd love some honest work from home opportunities to come my way. I've done numerous things freelance, but nothing to write home about. Catering, photography, pageant photographer, sewing, making jewelry, and such. I've often thought of becoming a buyer for those to tied up to do it. who knows how that would go over. Anyway I'm open to anything to keep my mind working and stimulated. Thanks Marmck1955
Tue Dec 14, 2010, 6:35:06 PM EST
xlorah Marmck1955, I just found this site. It sounds like you really have your hands full. Good luck in trying to find a home business for you. You do have some good ideas.

maddadkeith I have decided to work from home. But, I will be working for myself. As a teenager I made a few bucks as a musician. As a younger adult I made a few bucks in photography. As I grew closer to retirement I started building a new photography portfolio. And I have recently started working with my music again. I hope to turn these hobbies into two new careers.

Please note:
I have deleted my original post, and reposted only one paragraph from it. I have more to say on the subject. So, I will work it into an article to submit to this site.

fooddiaryuser I am wondering if you ever tried to be a karaoke DJ. For me it would be miserable listening to all that, but, you go to clubs and market yourself for one night a week. When you get the gig be sure to collect e-mail addresses so you can tell people which clube you will be at what night...if you bring in business on a slow night for a club they will be glad to pay you. Just be sure to market yourself by using a e-mailing system like Constant Contact or something like it to keep it professional looking. You could make a template for each bar or make one that has your entire schedule for the week. Just a thought.

deye56 Good Job! Thank-you for your input. Working at home will always be a subject of interest as people reach retirement years! My dad is turning 80 soon and still works...go figure! Merry Christmas to you and yours!

Willow542000 Hi, I would love any valid information about Working At Home. I think anyone who asks for money upfront is a scam, but that's just my personal thought. If they need our help, why should I have to send them money? Also, anyone offering huge amounts of income, most likely is a scam also. The valids ones only make a little, but right now, I'll take a little. If anyone has worked from home and actually gotten a paycheck, please let me know!

Amceb53 I would like you to know why I feel so strong about this company and its products. After having several health issues in my life I started taking the Isagenix products. In just 5 days I started seeing results in my physical body. But, besides that I started feeling more energetic, better mental clarity and having nights of sleeping deeper and awakening ready to start the day. I have released 15 lbs. and 20 inches overall. My personal Isagenix Success Story is just one of the thousands of success stories shared by people who have experienced incredible results using Isagenix Systems. You can be confident that Isagenix is committed to your success by offering you the opportunity to live a healthy, clean, and lean lifestyle—and to create wealth while doing so. In fact, Isagenix offers a 100 percent Satisfaction Guarantee. If after five days of use you are not satisfied with Isagenix Products, simply return them to Isagenix International within 30 days for a full product refund. There’s no better time to start your own success story than now. Get started right away and start enjoying the benefits you receive with Isagenix. aceballos87@yahoo.com Most of all, for me, being 57 years young and being laid off in 2008, unable to find employment. Being qualifiable for the many jobs I applied for and interviewed with, this was the first opportunity I found that I was able to do to control my life and income. Helping other "Boomers" is a real concern. After my many health challenges, weight loss not a main concern, being healthy was what I feel I benefitted from the Isagenix products. Yes, Maleluca, I'm sure has good products. Isagenix has created a new food technology that covers what I believe provides many advantages over many health and wellness companies.
Wed Nov 24, 2010, 11:15:59 PM EST
deye56 That is correct, Anthony, not all work at home opportunities are scams! And weight loss should hardly be in the scam category! I am glad that you got good results, so that you could share with everyone that can use the isagenix products. I myself, do not have a weight problem. But: there are many people that do! Along with the weightloss products, there are numerous health and wellnes companies that offer top notch products, and reasonable priced. My favorite is Melaleuca, and you may visit the site at: www.familiesinfaith.com/workingathome We dont sell any products, and sign-up right now is just $1.00 !
Thu Nov 18, 2010, 8:25:06 PM EST
Amceb53 Hi everyone! What a terrific site for us baby boomers. I wanted to introduce to you a business opportunity that I'm personally involved in. I've been with the company since Nov '09. I was made aware of them from my fiance, Julie. She had been overweight and had difficulty with other weight-loss programs and was introduced by a very good friend. After releasing approximately 45 lbs. and going from a size 18 to size 6/8 she had decided others should also become aware of the products. To become a distributor they only ask for $19.00 to become a part of the company. I was so impressed that she and others had had such tremendous results I also started taking the products, as well. The company is not only encouraged to see you get results like their other customers, but also have a lucrative compensation plan. Please go to my website at www.anthonyceballos.isagenix.com or email me: aceballos87@yahoo.com. It's not a scam. Their help to help us baby boomers is remarkable. Believe me you won't be sorry.
Wed Nov 17, 2010, 2:29:19 PM EST
luchito Be careful of scams: many times they ask for a lot of money of front (to defray costs). Check with the Better Business Bureau about the company in question, ask for the total costs of front and the requirements for you to start getting some payment. Some of these companies ask you to get your own clients. Do not give your credit card number.
Fri Nov 12, 2010, 8:14:47 AM EST
deye56 In my search for a work-at-home opportunity, I have learned what NOT TO DO versus what TO DO is just as important. Do not believe that working at home is going to be a piece of cake. You must have self control, and be able to get organized on a daily basis, because, more than likely you have lots of things going on during a typical workday, and you will be tempted to just take the day off, as you see fit.
Thu Nov 11, 2010, 3:59:56 PM EST
xlorah deye56, you are so correct. Working from home is really all about having your own business and it really is all in how and what you want to do with it. It can be very hard but I think as a baby boomer, we tend to know that already. We've all been around for quite some time. At least with your own home business, or working at home, YOU have control over it, you control whether you fail or suceed and that's a great feeling.
Tue Dec 21, 2010, 8:10:21 PM EST
Jo-Anne I love the idea of this forum. "Work-At-Home" job opportunities are great for many of us who are After Fifty - yet deye56 is correct about being concerned about scams.
Thu Nov 11, 2010, 1:19:09 PM EST
xlorah Another thing to remember is most work at home business's require money to start and to keep going. A lot of people do not understand that it takes money to make money. But the nice thing is you can find a business that suits your needs and your pocket book.
Mon Dec 27, 2010, 11:36:19 PM EST
deye56 deye56 created the topic "Working At Home" with description "I am 57 year old female, and been working on and off since the age of 18. My first job was long distance telephone operator, I have also worked in the home healthcare field, and various food related customer service jobs. I like meeting new people and helping those in my boomer age group. I would like to start a forum about working from home, and have people post work at home opportunities. Not scams or those that will require alot of money, but honest work from home companies.".
Thu Nov 11, 2010, 1:09:36 PM EST
luchito deye56: It seems to me you have it all together. Good luck on your new undertakings and keep us informed.
