luchito I just saw "Hope Springs" with Meryl Streep and T. Lee Jones. They deliver a virtouso performance from the get going. The movie is about a sexless, lifeless and what else to expect from a couple whose life as a couple appear to have run its course. She decides to fight for what she believes was worth to fight for a life-as-a- couple. The results are quite realistic and worth watching by the AFL community. An excellent movie with some hillarious moments.

I figured it would be a good idea, so, in the future I would be able to watch them alone. Now after 10 years I am watching them with my husband of 7 1/2 years. Kactus-Kat What do YOU do more often? I find as I get older, I don't mind waiting until movies come out on On Demand (or other ways to rent current movies off my cable). Is this something a lot of you do, or do you still head out to see your movies at the theater? I think we may be giving up the chance to see a movie when it's first out rather than waiting a bit for it to come out so we can watch it at home. What are you 50+ boomers doing?

Jackie I watched The Black Swan the other night and have to say...I hated it! It wasn't a drama, IMO, but more of a total horror movie. I figured it would be weird, but I wasn't prepared for the really awful storyline "extras". Yuck! The previews don't show even a 10th of what goes on in the movie. And no matter what Natalie Portman has said in interviews, there is no way she could have been doing all the dancing. It was quite obvious to me when I saw all the above the waist shots of her, then when most all the "real" dancing was shown, it was from far away.

Sailinggirl49 I saw Black Swan the other day with some friends and we loved it. Natalie Portman did an amazing job as ballet dancer. The movie deals with the pressure and grueling process of being a top ballerina from the dieting to dancing training. They really played up the good vs. evil in the story line and with the colors that the actors use through out it. There were all sorts of twists and turns through out the movie, leaving you wondering what was real and what was not.

Every performance is top notch, the costumes and sets are gorgeous, the chemistry between Firth and Rush is terrific. It was so hard to watch Colin Firth struggle to speak. taospoet I like to rate my favorite movies and actors in the top one hundred. Among those in this wide range of choices I’ve loved The Godfather, The Deer Hunter, The Old Man and the Sea, both versions, Casablanca, On The Water Front, A Streetcar Named Desire, Hud, The Hustler and Sophie’s Choice. I am a huge movie buff. It is impossible to list all my favorites. Obviously, these movies star some of my favorite actors. Meryl Streep, Robert De Niro, Brando, Al Pacino and Paul Newman, all are consummate actors. Not on my radar are slasher movies. I prefer character driven stories. I wrote such a screenplay, The Loneliest Road. My agent pitched in China last month, translated into Chinese. Yikes! I am curious how my last name, Chávez, is going to be translated into Chinese.

Jackie I recently watched the Johnny Depp "Alice in Wonderland" version and not even he could save what I thought was a real "stinker"! ha ha I didn't like "Ed Wood" either. I either like his acting or I don't. There's no in between. He really showed off a lot in the 3 Pirate's movies, but when he does his "campy" thing, he's only slightly annoying! I thought he was terrific in "Finding Neverland". A wonderful, touching spin on the creation and inspiration behind the "Peter Pan" story. Loved it! And then there's "Chocolat"! Be still my heart! ha ha

These days I really enjoy Michael Moore's documentaries - regardless of your politics, you gotta admit, he does a good job.
