TREND EXPERT LISTS ESSENTIALS FOR MEN'S EVERYDAY DRESSING

Trend expert lists essentials for men's everyday dressing

"Even if they are traditional, men want to look contemporary and modern," said trend expert and author Tom Julian. "They don't want to look old school."

Julian, a fashion globetrotter based in New York, was in South Florida recently doing one-on-one consultations with Nordstrom customers in Boca Raton.

Using a new handbook he wrote the "Nordstrom Guide to Men's Everyday Dressing" as a reference, Julian did one-on-one consultations to show men the way through a new landscape of jeans, sport shirts and blazers, nowadays seen as often at the office as at dinner parties. Julian shows men how to dress for work, after-hours, the weekend and travel.

"We have a lost generation," Julian said. "You used to have your fathers teach you this stuff."

Released in March, the book is based on advice from Nordstrom's top sales staffers and tailors. The guide retails for $17.95 in Nordstrom stores and at Nordstrom.com.

This book follows the retailer's first style tome 2009's "Nordstrom Guide to Men's Style," which helped men identify their personal style from four categories; luxury, classic, contemporary and trend. The book continues to be available for $19.95.
