Flaking Foundation image
QUESTION:
I've started applying a name-brand cream foundation that I purchased at a department store cosmetic counter. I usually apply it around 6:30 in the morning. However it starts to dry out and flake on my face by the time lunchtime rolls around. Does foundation only last for a little while - or am I applying it wrong? more

FRUMPY - AND IN A RUT

QUESTION:
I feel old, frumpy, and ugly in my clothes.  I haven't bought anything new in a while - I put on some weight and thought I would wait to buy new clothes until after I lost the pounds - but that's not happening.  How do I break out of this fashion rut?

Frumpy - And in a RutASK LIFESTYLE ANSWERS:
I hear this all the time. It makes sense if you’re truly on a weight loss plan. But, if your plan is like mine, the “wishful thinking” approach, you need new clothes right now! No matter what size we are, we always feel better in new clothes. Don’t go crazy, but get enough for 3 or 4 months. 2 bottoms, 4-6 tops, a sports jacket, a ¾ rain coat and a couple of pairs of shoes makes a very versatile wardrobe, assuming all these pieces co-ordinate. When you feel like you look good, you might just be incented to loose that couple of pounds!  Julie Foley

hdcantrell Add color, which is what I have done this year. I started looking at what I was buying since I turned fifty and it was drab, and dark. So this year, I bought a bright yellow pair of skinny leg jeans, that I wear with a great bright orange and yellow print blouse that I picked up on sale at the National Geographic site, which also helps to finance a women in a third world countries business. And it along with a couple other bright tops make me feel alive and bright. I chose chunky pieces of costume jewelry first year after fifty, now this, I am staying bright and young at heart. : )
